I hate to see a sad face, so this blog will aim to uplift you. I read the Bible a lot so whatever I write here is just what I’ve internalized and meditated on.
I hope you will be encouraged.
Do you believe that He talks to you? You pray and talk to Him, but do you believe that He talks back?
As I was reading the Bible, I came across this verse where the Israelites heard back from God,
Judges 1
After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, “Who will be the first to go up and fight for us against the Canaanites?
The Lord answered, “Judah is to go, I have given the land into their hands
And it got me thinking; How did they know it was God’s voice when they heard the response? How did they recognize it as God’s voice? How did it sound? Was it distinct? Was it loud? Was it soft? Did it have a certain tone? How could they be sure that it was really God’s voice? And… Does God’s voice still sound the same now? Does He still talk to us? For instance, if I hear a voice right now, how sure will I be that’s it God’s?, and not just my imagination? Most importantly, how can I recognize God’s voice?
I know how it is to have doubt rule your mind and feel like God is out of reach, or that He is far away. I have felt that at some point in my life. The Old Testament was written in the 6th Century BC, while the New Testament was written in the middle of the 1st Century AD, so it definitely is a distant past.
But if the Bible says that God never changes, then just maybe we should welcome the possibility that He still talks to us.
Its not bad to be hopeful. Don’t you think? Relationships involve communication. If you have a relationship with God then part of Him, even once, will try to reach out to you, talk to you, and guide you. For instance, think about this, have you ever had a point in your life where an event happened and you thought to yourself, “Hmmm that must have been God telling me something?”
But, in our everyday lives, we are usually bombarded with many voices. Sadly, majority of them don’t even give us peace.
“This is too much!”
“You can’t handle it!”
“you will never make it!”
“You are nothing!”
“Your faith will never work!”
Do you want to know what God’s voice sounds like? It’s a calm comfort, it will tell you the truth. You will feel peace, comfort & reassurance when you hear it. In the midst of that negativity, there’s a voice that will wash over you with calmness & that is God’s.
I believe that you can recognize God’s voice from everything in your mind because God wants the best for you. So if you want to know God’s voice, listen to that voice which guides you to the correct path, which loves you and gives you peace.
Why would He not talk to you? You are His masterpiece. You are His reflection created in His image. You are the one who is the object of His everlasting love.
So, don’t doubt that He would want you to know that, “though you feel alone, I am always here with you” “even though you think your faith will not work, I have established your steps, you can trust my plans for you because they are plans for good and not for evil” “even though you don’t feel like you’re enough, I have made you in my image and you are beautiful and wonderful.”
Jesus is your Shepherd. He is always guiding you. You have to believe & recognize that it is Him
Isaiah 30:21
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
Psalm 32:8-9
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.
John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
So whichever personal battle you are facing right now, with your whole heart, choose to believe the voice which gives you peace. That’s Him. Like He did with the Israelites, His loving eye is on you and He wants to tell you which way to go, and what to do.
Whichever voice that you hear, His is the one that will not mock you, it will not laugh at your failed attempt but will tell you that even though it seems that you have fallen, you will rise again.
Psalm 37:23-24
The LORD makes firm the step of the one who delights in him though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
It will encourage you and keep you pushing to the good that He has prepared.
Remember that doubt does not come from God “did He really say you shouldn’t eat that fruit?” “did He really say that He is with you?” That is the voice of doubt.
So remember that God’s voice wants the best for you, does not doubt in your abilities but believes them, and it will calm you.
Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love ; he will exult over you with loud singing.

The Verse
Exodus 14:13-15 New Living Translation (NLT)
But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
Escape through the Red Sea
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!
What was going on here?
Pharaoh and his army were hunting down the Israelites who had escaped Egypt. Up until then it had seemed that everything had gone well for the Israelites. They were finally free but they had met the Red Sea which seemed like a dead end. Imagine the fear that they must have felt, to turn their backs and see Pharaoh who enslaved them hot on their heels coming to kill them. Their escape route, the Red Sea, only looked like a dead end.
So what happened next..
Naturally, they cried out to God, who said:
Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!
Observe God’s word and God’s tone, it was a command. It wasn’t nurturing tone or a coddling tone. It was a direct order “Even though you see the Red Sea, I don’t want you to cry to me! I want you to move! ”
The lesson here
God in His tone was not telling the Israelites to move to Red Sea & drown. He had a plan, He was going to part the Red Sea. Notice that He only told Moses that He will part the Red Sea after He gave them that command.
And?
He wanted them to stop being fearful & trust in Him. God always goes ahead of us in all situations. Before they ever saw the Red Sea, God knew that they would reach it and He had a plan in place to get them out. He didn’t want them to be paralyzed by fear & lose track of the fact that God was with them.
Before you ever encounter your problem, God already knows that you will encounter it and He already has a plan in place that will get you out of it. When you face your problem, you only need to trust in God, trust in His plan to get you out of it (before even know what the plan is).
Didn’t He say to the Israelites that I will go before you?
Deuteronomy 31:8 (New Living Translation)
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
And He did, at night and during the day.
Exodus 13:21 (New Living Translation)
By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.
The same applies to you!
If the Israelites had been told ahead “on your way is the Red Sea, when you reach there, the biggest miracle will happen! He will..” Moses gasps and says “..part the Red Sea! ” , they would have reached the Red Sea and celebrated.
The same happens to us, we reach our personal difficulties & are awed by how immense it is & we end up crying to God because we can’t see a solution, we only see the dead end. But God wants us to stop crying out to Him and boldly move forward.
So put your trust in Him, watch God solve it. Let us see God solving our problems & completely removing our obstacles. Be brave in your faith, after all He is the one walking ahead of you, making sure plans of how He will solve your problem & get you out of it.
Say God I’m facing this and I trust in you. You already knew I would get here and your love is so great that I know you have provided a way out for me. I don’t know which way it is but I will be strong trusting in you that you have solved it and will lead me out of it. Amen”
You’re inconsolable & in anguish. Your tears have burned your eyes. You clutch on your chest because your heart is pain, it feels heavy and your soul is crushed.
I’ve broken down the same way too. With tears running down my face, I’ve imagine God staring at me, in a detached mood. “If He cared, if He understood how much it hurts to be feeling this way, He would stop it immediately,” I’ve cried, feeling alone and wrapped in pain.
So you can imagine the comfort I felt when I realized that He is actively present with us when we go through such times. Not only that, but that it also hurts him when we’re heartbroken.

The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry

When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 34:18-20 ESV
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
What I learnt from those verses that you should know, during such moments, when you are heartbroken, He is with you. You are not alone. His heart breaks with you, each pain in your heart. He understands. His love surrounds you at such moments. With tenderness and compassion, He weeps with you.
I completely understand that problems can cause you to feel isolated. This is to remind you that He sees your pain, He feels the intensity of your heartbreak. To you, on a scale of 1-10, your pain is a 10, he feels the immeasurable pain that you’re feeling, the same pain, He feels its intense ache. He knows you as a person, He knows your likes & dislikes, He knows what makes you laugh & he understands exactly why your heart is breaking. He sees your point of view, He has compassion for you. His joy is not in seeing you destroyed by pain, as a matter of fact, His heart breaks too.
When I was younger, there was this poem that was in my mother’s book. Later on I discovered that it was the lyrics to a song, which I’ve still not heard. But this poem, touched my soul, whenever a friend of mine was going through a problem, I would write it in beautiful calligraphy, send it to them, hoping it would make them feel some comfort. Because it spoke better than I could ever want.
Here it is, I’m sharing it with you because I also want you to feel comforted in knowing that you are not alone in your pain.
